Hiri Moale Festival

This 11-day/10-night program is an unescorted tour with the highlight being the Hiri Moale festival.

The Hiri Moale Festival happens at the gateway to PNG, the capital Port Moresby features this explosive festival highlighting the days when the epic voyages was undertaken by local Motuans of the Papuan Region who in the past, traded clay pots for sago in the early trade days. This unique exchange or barter system ensured the survival of Motuans and in return, provided the neighboring Gulf people with quality clay pots for domestic use as clay quality was poor in Gulf province. The show is a composition of diverse representation from groups, making up almost 500 entertainers, performances including traditional dances, Hiri Queen contest, Lagatoi arrival, canoe racing, musical presentations plus arts and crafts exhibitions etc. This program takes you to first experience the interior of Papua New Guinea and ending with this spectacular Hiri Moale festival to cement the memories.

Day 1 (D): Arrive Port Moresby ex-international flight, meet, greet by Country staff and transfer to your onwards connecting flight PX158 to Gurney. Upon arrival in Gurney, transfer to Alotau town. Overnight – Alotau International Hotel (3 nights).
Day 2 (BLD) and Day 3 (BLD): For this next two days, explore this magical tip of Papua New Guinea where your host offers a wealth of cultural, historical, and natural attractions. Discover sites significant in World War II history and find relics left behind. Learn about the traditional cultures of the Local Mountain, coastal and islands people - the matrilineal family system, skull caves, and sing sings. Your tour will also visit picturesque Samarai Island, the former Capital of Milne Bay Province until 1968, just a few hours away by boat and discover why it was known as the “ Pearl of the Pacific”. See how the European influence evolved in Milne Bay following the 19 th century arrival of missionaries and establishment of the Kwato Church, which are only few minutes from Samarai Island.
Day 4 (BLD): Transfer hotel to airport for flight PX955 Gurney to Port Moresby , Upon arrival in Port Moresby you will proceed straight for a half day city tour with a sit-down lunch at a hotel. Terminate tour and transfer to afternoon flight PX126 Port Moresby to Madang , arrive beautiful Madang and transfer to your Hotel. Overnight: Madang Resort Hotel (2 nights).
Day 5 (BLD): Full day tour of North Coast Madang area including village visits.
Day 6 (BLD): Transfer from Hotel to Goroka by bus. Arrive. Upon arrival in Mt Hagen, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in and proceed for brief environmental tour of Goroka including the famous market and surrounds. Overnight: Bird of Paradise Hotel (2 nights).
Day 7 (BLD): Full day tour of the Goroka including a visit to Asaro mudman village for mudman performances/coffee plantations, traditional villages study with picnic lunch.
Day 8 (BLD): Transfer hotel to airport for flight PX961 Goroka to Port Moresby. Upon arrival you will be met, greeted and transferred to your hotel. Balance of time at leisure to relax at the poolside of the hotel. Overnight: Holiday Inn (3 nights)
Day 9 and Day 10 (BLD): Return transfers to the Hiri Moale Festival. Full days visiting this cultural spectacular with loads of fun filled activities.
Day 11 (B--): Transfer to the Jackson’s international airport for departure flight.
END OF HIRI MOALE FESTIVAL
Land cost based on a minimum of 9-14 persons traveling. If the numbers increase or decrease we will review costs.
9-14 pax: @ US$2756.00 per person on twin share basis.
Single Supplement: US$860.00 per single occupancy throughout.
Land Cost Includes: Accommodation on twin share basis, meals as indicated as B = Breakfast, L= Lunch, D=Dinner, tours and transfers, show entrance fee, local English speaking guides and government tax.
Land cost Excludes: Any other meals than those specified, international and domestic Air Niugini (PX) flights, international departure tax, visa fees, beverage, laundry, phone/fax bills, and other services of personal nature etc.
ADDITIONAL COST Regarding Air Arrangements:
We suggest you book and ticket the domestic Air Niugini (PX) flights together with your international flights and take advantage of discounts available when ticketed overseas. These flights are:

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Deposits: A non-refundable deposit is required to book any of our show programs. Only deposits, we are able to secure a space our show programs. The required deposit is US$250 per person. The received deposits will be deducted from your final payment.
Final Payments: Final payment is to be made on or before 01st of August . Over this busy, most other tour operators require final payment at 60 days or before, however, we from past experiences have set this deadline to give ample time to our clients to forward their payment.
All deposits and final payments are to be forwarded by Telegraphic Transfer (T/T). Please fax a copy of your T/T receipts when forwarding the payments. This will ease us in identifying your payments or you could send us an email advising us when the payment was made so we can monitor the clearance of your payment with our bank. We will have so many similar deposits made over this period and your advice would help us identify your payment.

Cancellations: Cancellations must be received in writing at our office so appropriate refunds can be calculated and refunded where applicable. Our cancellation policies are as follows:
1. Although the deposit are non refundable, if cancellations are received at 90 days or before, we will consider refunding the deposit. This will be determined by the nature of the cancellation.
2. Cancellations received after 90 days will forfeit the US$250 per person deposit.
3. Cancellations received at 60 days and before 30 days will attract a forfeiture of 25% of the tour payment if already made.
4. Cancellations received after 30 days and before 21 days will attract a 50% forfeiture of the tour payment. Cancellations received less than 21 days will forfeiture the tour payment.
Please note, we are more than happy to discuss the cancellation penalties determining the nature of the cancellations.
Refunds will be made accordingly. The sooner you advise us of your cancellation, the sooner you will be refunded your funds; thus, all cancellations must be received in writing at your earliest possible.
